With much of the central city needing to be rebuilt following the earthquakes, Christchurch City Council and the Government took the opportunity to revisit the transport network.
The redesign rethought how people move through the central city, prioritising different streets for different users and making the centre easier to navigate on foot, by bike, by bus and by car.
CID's predecessor oversaw the redesign and delivery of four major city streets, including the Health Precinct bus facilities.
